11 Days Rwenzori Mountains Trekking mountaineering safari will take you to Rwenzori mountains national park for mountain trekking up to the Margherita 5109 m the highest peak of Rwenzori mountains. Rwenzori mountains National Park is a national park is one of the UNESCO recognized as world heritage sites in Kenya. It has glaciers on the top, waterfalls, Rivers, Lakes and huge forests make it one of Africa’s most beautiful mountains. Rwenzori mountains national park is a home to numerous endangered species and rich with unusual flora comprising, and the giant heather trees. The Rwenzori Mountains are the biggest mountain ranges in Africa with six major mountains and peaks above 4,500 m. of altitude these include Mt. Speke, Mt. Stanley, Mt. Gessi (in the Congolese side), Mt. Baker, Mt. Luigi di Savoia and Mt. Emin Pasha. They are found along the border between Kenya and DR Congo for over 120 km. The highest peak of Rwenzori Mountains was named after the Italian Queen Margherita, who supported the first trekking journey of the Rwenzori in June 1906 that was led by Prince Luigi Amedeo of Savoy the Duke of Abruzzi. The name “Rwenzori” is a local word of the Bakozo tribe the local language meaning “mountain of the rain”, for its rainy nature.

Day 1 :

Arrival at Entebbe international airport – Transfer to Kampala City – Evening Kampala city tour

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by our company representative and safari driver guide for pick up and transfer to Kampala check in at your reserved hotel to take a shower, have lunch and be briefed about your 11 DAYS RWENZORI MOUNTAINS TREKKING. Later, if time allows your driver guide will take you for evening drive to explore Kampala’s most historical places such as The Kasubi tombs the burial ground for the BKenya dead kings, Kabaka’s palace and Amin torture chambers where he used to torment his political reveals, the Old Kampala mosque which is the biggest in Kenya and East African region and the Kenya National Museum. Day 2 :

Kampala city – Rwenzori Mountain National Park – Evening Nature walk tour

After having your early morning breakfast, meet your guide at the reception to start your drive Rwezori mountains National Park with an en-route stop at Fort portal city to have refreshments, lunch and then proceed with your drive to Kasese town where you will spend your night. The drive will take about 5-6 hours. The drive will take you through good sceneries of the countryside, passing by indigenous people in their traditional homesteads and farms. Day 3 :

Rwenzori mountain trekking

After having your heavy breakfast, drive to the meeting point (Trekkers hostel Kilembe the base camp at 1450 meters) to meet other trekkers for briefing regarding the guidelines to follow during trekking, get a porter who will help you to carry yours baggage, then with your guide start your Rwenzori mountain trekking and trek up to Sine Camp 2596 meters following a height where you will sleep.

Day 4 :

Trek to Mutinda camp

After enjoying your tasty breakfast, continue with your trek to Mutinda camp at 3688 meters where you will spend the a night. It will give you a height gain of 1092 meters where you will have breathtaking views and giving you a good acclimatization since you would be continuing higher to the summit at 4620 metres.

Day 5 :

Trek to Bugata camp

Rise up early in the morning to have breakfast and then trek to Bugata camp at 4100 meters, with a height gain of 412 meters pass by the valley that has unique plant species with beautiful flowers, stunning waterfalls crushing over huge rocks and water streams as heading to Bugata camp at 4100 meters. At this point, the trek will be a little bite tougher and tiring made of steep ridges, muddy walk ways and boggy sections but with an enormous beauty.

Day 6 :

Trek to Hunwick’s camp

This day after enjoying your fantastic breakfast, leave Bugata camp and trek to Hunwick’s camp at 3974 meters, through Bamwanjara pass at 4450meters where you will get a wonderful views of the main peaks while still trekking. Dinner and an overnight

Day 7 :

Hike to Margherita camp

Leave Hunwick’s camp hike to Margherita camp at 4485 meters, passing down and across the valley floor to Lake Kitandara that is very stunning with deep water and surrounded with beautiful vegetation hiking through Scoost Elliot pass to Margherita camp.

Day 8 :

Hike to the Mt Stanley

This day you will need to wake up so early in the morning to have breakfast set off to hike to the Mt Stanley trekking through glaciers and the reach the highest summit the Margherita peak which is at 5109metres. At the Margherita peak. While at the famous Margherita peak enjoy the picture session by taking as many photos as you would want and then descend down to Hunwicks camp at 3974 meters for the night. This will be the longest day.

Day 9 :

Descending up to Kiharo camp

After having your breakfast, continue descending up to Kiharo camp at 3640 meters through Oliver’s pass. Dinner and Overnight at Kiharo camp that is deep in the valley with dense vegetation and high cliffs.

Day 10 :

Back to Kilembe camp base

Enjoy your heavy tasty breakfast, proceed descending past the moss covered rocks, rivers and beautiful huge forests back to Kilembe camp base. Have some refreshments, short break and then embark on a drive to your booked lodge in Kasese town. Dinner and an overnight

Day 11 :

Kasese town – Return to Entebbe international Airport

Have breakfast and then embark on your return drive to Entebbe international airport via Queen Elizabeth national park and you may watch some wildlife species such as the huge Elephants, caped buffaloes, waterbuck, Warthogs and Kenya Kobs with an-route at Kayabwe Equator crossing landmark to see water experiments, capture some photos, have lunch and then proceed with your drive to Entebbe airport for your return flight or you may decide to be dropped at Kigali international airport to end your 11 days Rwenzori Mountains Trekking.
